How was Training?

more

“I thought it achieved the purpose of explaining EA and how to put it in place, and it was helpful that the instructor integrated the education with a reasonable understanding of what we already have in place.” - IT Architect, Hasbro, USA, Jan 2013

Recommend PEAF?

“Yes - PEAF helps kick start EA. its like a spark plug which helps to ignite the engine. Just enough to encourage initiation and understanding.” - Innovation Architect, Cenovus Energy Inc., Canada, May 2012

How easy it is to maintain models in a modelling tool is very important and dependent upon the complexity and volume of the information. Here we compare how much effort it takes to maintain the information in the model as its complexity and volume increases.

While complexity and volume is low, the effort to maintain the information is generally low but disproportionally large for a Custom Tool due to the user interface and the conformity it enforces.

Visio/Excel

As the complexity and volume of information increases, the effort to maintain the information quickly grows exponentially to impossible levels due to the effort to keep the drawings in Visio and the data in Excel in sync, the difficulty in maintaining the relationships between the differing Domains, and the consistency of the data.

Visio/DB

As with Visio/Excel the effort to maintain the information quickly becomes impossible although the inevitable is slightly delayed due to the linkages between drawings and the database being automatic.

Custom Tool

As the complexity and volume of information increases, the features of referential integrity, linked drawings, multi-user access and dissemination of information keeps the effort to maintain the information at a manageable level.
